We will NEVER give up on Eliza.
Allen loves his daughter with all of his heart, and completely shatters the pre-determined notion that fathers are not good, attentive parents. He is crushed, heart-broken, yet still extremely determined to get the chance that all who want it should have: to raise his daughter with love, tenderness and care that only a natural parent can provide.
Giving up is not an option.
"The Kansas Adoption & Relinquishment Act, K.S.A. 59-2111 et seq. , is to be strictly construed in favor of maintaining the rights of natural parents." -- "...For the purposes of this subsection, 'support' means monetary or non-monetary assistance that is reflected in specific and significant acts and sustained over the applicable period." -- "Reasonable under the circumstances."
After surprisingly being thwarted at the District Court level when contesting the unexpected attempt of his first born being adopted out, he then appealed to the KS Court of Appeals. Even with ample proof of meeting the unfair requirements of an interested unwed father to protect his rights, the Court of Appeals shockingly affirmed the District Court's decision.
Now, he needs to petition to The KS Supreme Court for review. He has found an attorney he feels very confident in, and they require a $5,000 retainer for his services.
