Justice for Anam

Thank you for visiting Mander and Anam’s page. If you could please find it in your hearts to continue reading, our family would be greatly appreciative.

On October 21st, 2018 at 12:25am, our brother Mander and his beautiful new wife Anam were involved in a tragic car accident, leaving Mander with 2 broken legs, and Anam pronounced dead at the scene.

Mander and Anam began their journey together with their wedding reception on October 13th, 2018. Their journey only lasted 8 days before she was tragically taken away from us. Mander and Anam were on their way home from a family birthday celebration when a speeding driver ran a red light and hit them. The impact was so strong that Anam died instantly. Mander was forced to sit next to his wife, with 2 broken legs, crying for her to wake up until paramedics could arrive. He was then transported to a trauma centre and underwent 5 surgeries.

The driver of the vehicle that took Anam’s life fled the scene by foot immediately after the accident. Fortunately, there were others who were kind enough to call 911 as the person responsible had left them there to die.

Mander is still in the hospital, with doctors constantly monitoring his progress. Although his surgeries went well, his recovery is going to be a long process. He will need months of healing and physical therapy to be able to walk again properly. His prognosis is uncertain at this point, but we know he will be off work for months, possibly even a year or more. This coupled with the tragic loss of his wife creates a future that no one wishes upon anyone.

In addition to his recovery, our family is working alongside police to ensure that the man driving the car that took Anam’s life will be prosecuted to the fullest extent. On October 23rd, 2018, the 23 year old man that fled the scene after causing the accident turned himself in to the police. He was released on bail the same day. He is charged with criminal negligence causing death, criminal negligence causing bodily harm, failing to remain at the scene of an accident causing death and failing to remain at the scene of an accident causing bodily harm. We hope that the system will succeed in providing justice for our angel, Anam.

Our family is devastated by this heartbreaking tragedy. If you can find it in your heart to support Mander in his recovery and fight to ensure that justice is served for Anam, it would be greatly appreciated. May her beautiful soul rest in peace. Thank you.
