Debbie has been diagnosed with Stage 3 Melanoma cancer, after the removal of 5 very fast growing lymph node masses under her right arm. In the days following the surgery she had an MRI of her brain and a PET scan of her whole body. Just before the surgery she also had a CT scan of her lungs. All of these tests were "unremarkable", meaning the doctors did not see any more cancer anywhere else in her body. Praise the Lord!
Because no additional tumors were found on the scans, her doctors are very
encouraged that this cancer is curable and recommend aggressive chemotherapy.
New Mexico does not have a major cancer center where she can get the treatments
she needs. Her doctors in New Mexico want her to get treatment at MD Anderson in Houston. Debbie's
insurance will not pay for anything outside of the state of New Mexico. In
addition to the actual treatments, there will also be transportation costs,
missed work, etc. We do not know yet how long she will have to stay in Houston
with hotel bills and all that sort of thing.
Please do what you can to help Debbie. There is no such thing as a gift too small. Most of all, add Debbie and her kids to your prayer list, share her name and situation with your church and prayer warrior friends.
