Fundraiser for the Cremation of Dona Sofia R
My grandma passed away on December 29, 2020 due to Covid19
She was healthy, active, lively, loved to dance salsa and everyone wanted seconds and thirds when she cooked.
She was in small village of Arjelia, Cauca, Colombia in 1941
She was the daughter of a platano plantation worker and a grammar teacher
The third oldest of 13
the mother of 3 girls
the widow of a driver.
She immigrated to America on her own in the early late 70s to find better opportunities
She became a CNA in her 50s and it was her pride and joy to wear a nurse uniform.
She loved the beach, seafood, she loved deep friend food (fritanga) and dreamed of retiring back to Colombia someday
She really thought she was going to live until 100 like her mom did and constantly made fun of us for being tired when she felt so youthful and full of life.
She is in a better place but is missed dearly by her 2 daughters, 7 sisters, 9 grandkids, and 4 great-grandkids.
Te queremos y te extranamos mucho Abuela
To all, but specially the TikTok community, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for any contribution you can make to help in her name. I am still at awe at the generosity and kindness of strangers, at the community formed in this times of pain and confusion and at the love being show to my family and I in this heartbreaking times.
Thank you for your prayers, your words of encouragement and wisdom and for your sincere condolences.
