I proposed to my girlfriend earlier this year at Joshua Tree while the comet Neowise passed by. It was perfect.
Despite the pandemic, everything seemed to be going okay for us. We both still had jobs, neither of us or anyone we knew had gotten the virus. We wanted to really get our lives started together. We wanted to get married but due to the COVID pandemic, we could not have the wedding of our dreams. Instead, we opted for a small getaway with just two close friends and immediate family.
Unfortunately, her parents and sisters weren’table to make it because they had all contracted COVID. We still had the wedding, and it was absolutely beautiful.
When we returned, we moved into our new apartment and we couldn’t be any happier. After some discussion based on our financial situation, she stopped working so she could return to school full time to fulfill her dreams. I continued working to support us both and our new home.
Not too long after though, I was laid off. I’m incredibly heartbroken. Not only was that my dream job, I had to come home to my loving wife and explain to her that we no longer had any income to afford our home. After dreaming aboutliving together for so long everything was pulled right out from under us.
Finding work in my field has been an absolute nightmare and I feel like I’ve run out of options. At this point I’ve started to interview for minimum wage jobs but I just don’t see how it’s possible to maintain this.
Thank you all so much for even reading this. I hope you and yours stay safe and employed during these terrible times.
