As a fellow follower of Just Budget Mums on instagram I know what she is going through after undergoing fertility treatments for my son.
IVF and any fertility help is expensive, especially when your aren't eligible for bulk billed IVF. Just budget mum is one of those people and after 9+ years of paying off her IVF debt of over $23,000 accumulated from her daughter and paying an additional $37,000 herself , she is now doing treatments for #2. Just budget mum has been given a rare opportunity of donar eggs that are only available in the next 2 weeks. Usually a 2+ year wait list.
Just budget mum has saved majority of the cycle funds herself and accessed early super. She doesn't like asking for help or charity but as her friend I can see the struggle and stress she is in to try get the remainder of the funds by 4pm friday. There is $1600 remaining to pay and if this cycle is unsuccessful she needs to fund freezing eggs so that she can continue at a later date.
Not only does non bulk bill IVF cost upfront there is also many hidden costs if a successful cycle occurs, like hundreds of dollars of medication to keep the embryo alive. That is why I'm hoping to raise $3000 for her. To lift the strain and stress, when creating a baby should be stress free and free.
