Junteenth Investment Day

JUNETEENTH INVESTMENT DAY!

City of Refuge Ministries believes that racism is broad and impacts Black people in a variety of ways, one of those ways being the economic system. Systems and barriers have been put into place to exclude Black people from accumulating wealth. The riches and wealth of this country were built off of the backs of slaves. However, Black people have been prohibited from benefiting from the wealth that they helped to create. And, although these realities for Black families are true, we now have the ability to invest in Black businesses and circulate the Black dollar within the Black community.

RISE UP, a ministry within City of Refuge, helps the church congregation and community take action against local, global, and national issues, while also helping to provide solutions to concerns within the broader community. In these efforts, RISE UP will partner with ChaseYouth. ChaseYouth aims to help young adults in underserved communities through academic scholarships.

As Juneteenth (June 19) commemorates African-American freedom, it is a time of celebration, reflection, and rejoicing. It is also a time for assessment, self-improvement, and planning for the future. In honor of Juneteenth RISE UP & ChaseYouth have decided to invest in the Black community in Bloomington-Normal.

RISE UP & ChaseYouth desires to invest within the Black community of Bloomington-Normal in three ways:
1. Black College Students
2. Providing free courses to "New Wealthy University" with Dr. Lynn Richardson for aspiring Black Business owners.
3. Black Owned Businesses

Through investing in these three areas, RISE UP & ChaseYouth believe they can help combat racism and wealth disparities & gaps for Black individuals and families within Bloomington-Normal.

Please consider partnering with us! Your investment into Juneteenth Investment Day will help us begin to tackle the unjust racial disparities & wealth gaps in the economic system and bring some hope and light to the Bloomington-Normal Community.
