Junior C Rebels need help to finish the season

Donation protected
Everyone Canadian knows how loved and cherished the game of hockey is.  It does not matter if its Timbit's, Junior or the NHL, its a part of our culture that brings folks together to cheer their son, daughter, cousin, friend or team on.  In the small town of Campbellford, Ontario, Canada there lives a Junior C hockey team called the Rebels that have been running since 1992.  The past few years have been difficult but they are determined to rebuild the Rebels back into a team of choice.  The 2018-19 season players have the biggest hearts and hopes by consistently showing up at every game no matter what the outcome.  For the love of the game.  A week ago the coaching staff finally delivered to the boys the grim reality of the situation.  The owner of the team had completely abandoned the team in every way possible. The owner is responsible to financially support the team  for the entire season.  Nothing has been paid for as it should be even though every player has paid the amount required to sign with the team.  Ice time has not been paid for, coaches are not being paid, busing is not paid and other items that should be provided are not being provided.  You wonder how the team is still running?  Well, the coaching staff have been covering necessities out of their own pockets as well as continuing to coach knowing they receive no compensatory amount.  They have done everything possible themselves to keep the boys playing until the end of the season.  They eventually had to tell the players because the coaches can no longer keep covering the expenses but they have done so to keep the boys playing the game they love.  So at the meeting with the boys, the coach asked the players if they wanted to continue the season until the end and they would somehow figure out a way.  Every single player put their hand up.  For the love of hockey.  As a hockey parent myself I am disgusted at the deliberate actions of the owner who has completely abandoned the team.  It just isn't right.   What does that teach our young men about responsibility, accountability and commitment ?   On behalf of the coaching staff and players of the Campbellford Rebels, we are asking for your help.  Any donation will help this team get to the end of the season.   There is an immense amount of debt and the boys will not get the things promised at sign on.  The Ontario Hockey Association will ultimately decide what will happen with the organization, whether it will continue or not and who will take over ownership.  But right now, for the love of the game, we humbly ask our fellow Canadians, please help support the small town hockey Campbellford Rebels so they can finish this season .  Any little amount will help.  Let them know they have not been abandoned by fellow Canadians who share the love of the game of hockey.  I am Canadian and  I am a proud mom of a Junior C Campbellford Rebel.
