<div>Ich bin 35 Jahre alt, ein liebevoller Ehemann und stolzer Vater von zwei kleinen Kindern, einem 6-jährigen Jungen und einem 4-jährigen Mädchen.

<div>Ich bin der alleinige Verdiener unserer Familie und arbeite jeden Tag, um meiner Frau und meinen Kindern ein sicheres und glückliches Leben zu ermöglichen.

<div>Ich habe eine seltene genetische Herzerkrankung namens Arrhythmogene rechtsventrikuläre Kardiomyopathie (ARVC), die durch eine PKP2-Genmutation verursacht wird. Im September 2023 erhielt ich einen ICD (implantierbarer Kardioverter-Defibrillator), nachdem ich eine lebensbedrohliche Herzrhythmusstörung erlitten hatte.

<div>Über einen längeren Zeitraum danach war mein Zustand stabil, und ich konnte meinen Alltag mit meiner Familie weiterführen. Fast zwei Jahre lang lief alles relativ gut, und ich konnte weiterhin arbeiten und Zeit mit meiner Familie verbringen.
</div>

<div>Dann änderte sich plötzlich alles. Ich begann, gleichzeitig viele gefährliche Herzrhythmusstörungen zu bekommen, einen sogenannten VT-Sturm. Mehrere lebensbedrohliche Herzrhythmen traten nacheinander auf, und mein ICD musste mehrfach eingreifen (7 Schocks). Es war eine extrem belastende Situation.

<div>Ich musste mich einer fünfstündigen Notoperation unterziehen und wurde anschließend mit sehr starken Medikamenten behandelt, um mein Herz zu stabilisieren. Danach beruhigte sich mein Zustand vorerst wieder.
</div>

</div>
<div>Leider ist inzwischen eine neue und ernsthafte Komplikation aufgetreten. Die ICD-Sonde (der Draht, der direkt in mein Herz führt) ist instabil geworden, und auch das umliegende Herzmuskelgewebe könnte betroffen sein. Die Pumpfunktion meines Herzens ist auf nur noch 15 % gesunken.

<div>Meine Ärzte planen nun einen größeren Eingriff, um das Problem zu beheben. Dieser wird eine längere Erholungszeit erfordern, in der ich vorübergehend nicht arbeiten kann.
</div>

</div>
<div>Gleichzeitig gibt es neue medizinische Entwicklungen, die mir reale Hoffnung geben. Aktuell werden vielversprechende Ansätze in der Stammzell- und Gentherapie für Erkrankungen wie die Arrhythmogene rechtsventrikuläre Kardiomyopathie erforscht.
</div>
<div>Diese Therapien zielen darauf ab, geschädigte Herzmuskelzellen zu regenerieren und das Fortschreiten der Krankheit deutlich zu verlangsamen oder im besten Fall sogar zu stoppen.
</div>

<div>Eine konkrete Behandlungsmöglichkeit ist bereits verfügbar, jedoch mit sehr hohen Kosten verbunden und wird nicht von den Krankenkassen übernommen. Ein Teil der Spenden soll mir genau den Zugang zu dieser Therapie ermöglichen, da sie meine langfristige Prognose entscheidend verbessern könnte.

<div>Durch die bevorstehenden Behandlungen und die notwendige Erholungszeit steht unsere Familie vor einer herausfordernden Phase, insbesondere weil ich vorübergehend eingeschränkt arbeiten kann. Unterstützung würde uns helfen, laufende Lebenshaltungskosten sowie zusätzliche Ausgaben im Zusammenhang mit Behandlung und Rehabilitation zu bewältigen und mir ermöglichen, mich vollständig auf meine Genesung zu konzentrieren.

<div>I have a rare genetic heart condition called Arrhythmogenic Right Ventricular Cardiomyopathy (ARVC), caused by a PKP2 gene mutation. In September 2023, I received an ICD (implantable cardioverter defibrillator) after experiencing a life-threatening arrhythmia.

<div>For a long period afterward, my condition was stable, and I was able to continue my daily life with my family. For almost two years, everything went relatively well, and I was able to keep working and spend time with my family.
</div>

</div>
<div>Then, suddenly, everything changed. I began experiencing multiple dangerous arrhythmias at the same time, a so-called VT storm. Several life-threatening heart rhythms occurred one after another, and my ICD had to intervene repeatedly (7 shocks). It was an extremely serious and overwhelming situation.
</div>

</div>
<div>I had to undergo a five-hour emergency operation and was subsequently treated with very strong medication to stabilize my heart. After that, my condition calmed down again for a while.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Unfortunately, a new and serious complication has now arisen. The ICD lead (the wire that goes directly into my heart) has become unstable, and the surrounding heart muscle tissue may also be affected. The pumping function of my heart has dropped to only about 15%.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>My doctors are now planning a major procedure to address this issue. This will require a longer recovery period, during which I will only be able to work to a limited extent.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>At the same time, there are new medical developments that give me real hope. Promising approaches in stem cell and gene therapy are currently being researched for conditions like Arrhythmogenic Right Ventricular Cardiomyopathy.
</div>
<div>These therapies aim to regenerate damaged heart muscle cells and significantly slow down or in the best case, even stop the progression of the disease.
</div>

<div>A specific treatment option is already available, but it is associated with very high costs and is not covered by health insurance. Part of the donations will be used to give me access to this therapy, as it could significantly improve my long-term prognosis.
</div>

<div>Due to the upcoming treatments and necessary recovery time, our family is facing a challenging period, especially since I will only be able to work to a limited extent. Support would help us cover ongoing living expenses as well as additional costs related to treatment and rehabilitation and allow me to fully focus on my recovery.
