Juneteenth D.C. Trip

Follow our Journey to DC through IG at:  https://www.instagram.com/avid.indc/ Hi, our Senior AVID class is fundraising for a trip to D.C. for the weekend of Juneteenth. Juneteenth is a federal holiday in the United States commemorating the emancipation of enslaved African-Americans. During our trip to D.C., we hope to immerse ourselves in history by attending the following places:

 

*National Museum of African American History and Culture

*National Museum of African Art

*Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial

*Mary McLeod Bethune House
*Lincoln Memorial

Taking a trip to the nation's Capitol to celebrate freedom in its purest form would be an incredibly profound experience, but taking that trip with the very small group of people that we've had the opportunity to grow with for four years is even more." - Favor Olubi, AVID Senior

 

The funds will be used to help purchase the plane tickets and hotel stay in D.C.
