Julie's Kicking Cancer's Butt Fund

Our story starts years ago, probably not to different from yours. With some family turmoil that came to a climax in the past year.  With this turmoil a wave of stress reaked havoc on my Mother.  At the beginning of the year my Mother lost her oldest sister unexpectedly to illness and my grandfather fell into a cylce of recurring sickness that left him needing 24 hour care.  We are a very close knit family and he did not want to leave home.  So the duty of caring for him fell to his children.   We prepared for the worst and my pappy went to Jesus this past July.  All the while my mom was suffering from lower back and abdominal pain in silence.  After my Pappy's passing she sought medical attention after urgings from my dad.  It was discovered that she had fibroids and a cyst in her abdomin and on her uterus.  Her markers for Cancer were elevated but her doctors weren't convinced that Cancer was present.  None the less she was sent to a gynecological oncologist.  He broke down her options, sent her for test(which were completed very quickly) and she was prepped for surgery.  We were told that she wouldn't know if it was cancer until she awoke from surgery and we prayed for the best.  Long story short she had a full hysterectomy and cancer was everywhere.  Diagnosis: Stage 3c Ovarian Cancer.  Shock doesn't even discribe the emotional tsunami that rocked our family.  Up until this point my mother was the epitome of health.  After surgery she was sent home to recover with a 50% chance to live up to 5 years using aggressive chemotherapy.  After their high deductible, insurance would cover chemotherapy until the new year begins; however, we have always seeked natural, chemical free healthcare remedies whenever possible.  We looked into alternatives to chemo because of its destructive nature and the low statistical survival rate.  Gerson Therapy  is the anwer to our prayers.  Healing the body at the root to prevent Cancer from ever rearing its ugly head again.  However, it is expensive because insurance doesn't cover it.  My parents believe in this and my sisters and I do also.  They went to the bank, took out a loan and prepared all the paperwork to head out.  On Monday (9/25) Mom is heading to Mexico to begin her therapy at the Gerson Medical Clinic, she will be under doctor supervison for 21 days and then will return home to continue her treatment for 2 1/2 years.  

You might be wondering what in the world is Gerson Therapy.  The basic principles are 13 fresh organic juices daily to flood the cells with anti cancer vitamins and minerals that start a detoxification process flushing the gunk out of the body.  Serious detoxification with castor oil packs, clay packs, a variety of enimas to purify the blood through the liver and daily organic meals.  While she will be away she will also receive Vitamin C and B17 injections.  The cost is steep, starting with her flight to California her 3 week stay at the Gerson clinic, the specific vitamin injections she will recieve daily plus additional suppliments she will need to continue when she returns home and lets not forget the cost of 15+ pounds, yes I said pounds, of organinc fruits and veggies she needs DAILY to make this a success when she is jucing at home.

You might be saying "Wow Audrey thats a lot" or the opposite "How can it really cost so much it's just food" so I will break down the expenses.  Excluding the $20,000+ medical expenses thus far.  Insurance doesn't cover Gerson's Therapy.  My Mom's expenses currently are her airfare to and from California and her travels across the border to Tijuana.  Her stay at Gerson costs $5,500 weekly( 3 weeks=$16,500).  The addition of Vitamin C and B17 for Cancer patients cost another $3,000 weekly(3 weeks=$9,000).  When she returns home her estimated cost for supplements will be $1,000 a month.  Add in the cost of Organic produce which fluctuates with the season and follow up Doctor's care.  The road we have chosen isn't easy and costs a pretty penny.   I would love to suprise my them with this gift of your generosity, as they would never ask for this themselves.
