Julie Dupuis Medical Expense Fund

On the evening of October 4th, our parents’ lives were turned upside down when their vehicle was hit head-on by an alleged drunk driver. Our father, Peter Dupuis, was taken by ambulance to Southern NH Medical Center where he was treated for his injuries. While he was able to return home within a week of the accident, our mother’s situation was unfortunately much more serious. First responders were forced to use the jaws of life to extricate our mom, Julie Dupuis, from the vehicle. Due to the extent of her injuries, she was then med-flighted to Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston.  We rushed to the ER and after a few hours received an update that she would soon be going into emergency surgery in order to stabilize her.

As we received further updates, we quickly realized just how extensive and life-changing her condition was. The following days were filled with further surgeries and ICU care. In the weeks that followed, she was transported to another hospital to begin initial rehab. Although the path to recovery is just beginning, and our mom still isn't able to bear weight on either of her legs, she was able to be moved home on October 31st to continue her healing process. While we can’t say for sure how the next months, or years, will play out, we will be by her side through it all.

As you can imagine, the severity of this accident has led to a lot of uncertainty. Our mom’s road ahead will be extremely challenging as she continues on the path to recovery. We know she will meet all of these challenges with strength and resilience and we remain hopeful that she will get back to the same way of life she had prior to this accident. Those that know her personally can attest to the fact that she is a very determined woman. They could also attest to her selflessness and commitment to help others.  Now it is our time to be there for her.

We are committed to helping our parents through their healing process in any way we can, which is why we have decided to launch this fundraiser. Our goal is to help with the many expenses incurred due to this traumatic event, as well as help cover the inevitable future expenses they will face. The last thing we want our parents to worry about is financial uncertainty when their priority right now should be healing.

Through this difficult time, we have seen firsthand how loved both of our parents are, with many of their friends, colleagues, and the communities they belong to, reaching out to see how they can help. It has truly humbled our family to see the outpouring of love and support.

We want to thank everyone for their prayers and well wishes for our parents. All contributions are greatly appreciated, and we thank you all from the bottom of our hearts. Your support means the world to our family.
