Help Save Juliann's Hospital Bed

Donation protected
Hello!
My name is Cindy. I have been a very close friend of Juliann Sliwa for many years now. We met while working for the same corporation. There she was known as “Julia” which I have fondly referred to her and called her ever since.
I would like to begin this important story by saying “Thank you!” in advance. Thank you for your compassionate consideration in helping a dear friend.

Juliann (Julia), aka PurpleDoody the Moose Lady, is a kind, generous woman, always smiling, who amazingly never forgets a friend or family member’s birthday, anniversary or special day. Juliann is famous to everyone for sending out greeting cards for all these occasions. That is until recently. She once had a very active, hard-working, fun-filled life and was very much involved in her church’s charity work as well as bible study groups. Then one dreadful day she was in a near fatal motor vehicle accident. Unfortunately, since that accident, and two equally bad subsequent ones, her mobility has progressively and drastically deteriorated despite years of physiotherapy, working enthusiastically with a kinesiologist, and swim therapy. As the years have progressed so has her serious health issues. She is now totally disabled and completely bedridden.  On a daily basis she has to deal with extreme chronic pain and her many health challenges. This is a person who has lost everything since these accidents, her job that she loved and excelled at, her beloved home that she lived in with her dear Mom for over 30 years, the ability to attend church, socialize with her countless friends that she cherishes and her loving cousins, and her life as she knew it.
Juliann now requires a special bariatric hospital bed that will support her back, shoulders, neck, legs/feet and her hips (Juliann’s right hip broke in 2012 and required hip replacement) and a trapeze bar to assist in adjusting position while in bed. This hospital bed also facilitates all of Juliann’s PSW’s and Nurses in providing optimal  daily care.
Her LHIN (previously CCAC) case manager arranged the replacement of her previously defective hospital bed with one which is more suited to her needs as well as the trapeze bar, but this comes with a hefty price tag, $14,500!  But to make matters worse now, this hospital bed and trapeze bar are only being covered by the "Local Health Integration Network" for the “FIRST 30 DAYS”, after which Juliann needs to be able to somehow takeover the costs ($1000/month or the  complete payment) or risk having all of this, so very necessary for her health, taken away from her and returned to the supplier. Needless to say, the immense stress is not helping in her recovery or her earnest quest to regain her mobility again!!
Please, if you can donate anything, to assist in paying for this vital hospital bed and trapeze, and/or share this request with anyone else who might be able to help, we (her Go Fund Me Team – known as “Juliann’s Bed Crusaders") will be forever grateful to you!!! Time is so quickly running out for her!!

Through it all, Juliann has not lost her faith, her hope, her endless deep abiding love for her friends, cousins, the love of her life – her boyfriend of almost 13 years now, Jeff Burke and her precious kitty QTPiee!!

The 30 Day countdown began August 17th. We are so hopeful and fervently praying this will be a success for her! Thank you once again for taking the time to read her story!

Sincerely,
Cindy.
