Ekaterina's Medical Bills

Ekaterina is a smart, funny and friendly 8 year old second grader. She loves glitter, ponies, music and reading. At the beginning of second grade Ekaterina began to lose interest in reading and mentioned to her mom that she was getting headaches while reading. Ekaterina's parents thought that she may need glasses or more lighting. Unfortunately that was not the reason. After a month of medical testing and increasingly stronger headachesher parents decided to take her to the local emergency room. A  CT  scan was completed.  The news that no parent ever wants to hear spilled from the doctor's mouth. It was confirmed, Ekaterina had a walnut size tumor in her brain. She was immediately transferred by ambulance to Riley Hospital for Children and underwent a 12 hour surgery to remove the tumor. It was a malignant, aggressive form of pediatric brain cancer called Medulloblastoma. This is every parent's worst nightmare. We tend to always take for granted that our children will be healthy and have long happy lives. There is a long, unknown road ahead for Ekaterina and her family. Proton therapy, chemotherapy, feeding tubes, and years of observation and treatments are to follow including late effects of treatment. When our group was informed of Ekaterina's diagnosis The Ekaterina Benefit was created for this wonderful family. The money we hope to raise will go to this little girl who has her whole life ahead of her.  With our help, she will have the chance to return to a healthy life. So we please ask you to open your hearts and wallets for Ekaterina and her loving family. With your help Ekaterina will have access to more treatment options and assistance in supplying much needed and very expensive medications.
