On December 23, 2015, Judy Franklin was diagnosed with breast cancer just days after the tragic loss of her eldest son. She underwent chemotherapy and radiation treatment, a mastectomy and breast reconstruction. We all believed the worst was behind her and she was successfully in remission.
In August 2020, she found her cancer had returned. She has now been diagnosed with Stage 4-Metastatic Breast Cancer and it has spread to her bones in multiple areas. While there is no viable cure for her declining condition, she has decided to follow through with treatment to prolong her life for herself and her loved ones.
She is seeking treatment at MD Anderson Hospital in Houston, Texas. This is a 5-6 hour drive from her home, which she cannot make alone. She will have to make multiple trips with overnight stays throughout the course of her treatment. She is asking for donations to help with travel expenses such as gas, hotel, food and any other expenses that may incur.
Judy Franklin is loved by her community. She is mostly known for her successful ownership of Affordable Hair Cutters in Amite, Louisiana where she collected wigs for cancer patients. She has made memory bears for a local fundraiser and given support whenever possible for anyone in need through the years.
We know many people have experienced difficult times during this past year with Covid-19. We realize that donating may not be feasible for some. We are grateful for any financial support you can provide and continued prayers for her and her family.
