Juan C. Gonzalez's Memorial Fund

Donation protected
On January 21, 2016 Juan C. Gonzalez, a young man who worked at a grocery store in the Back of the Yards on Chicago's southwest side was gunned down shortly after his shift when he attempted to cash his check at a nearby ATM. He was twelve days away from celebrating his 20th birthday.

Juan maintained his part-time job at El Guero during high school to help support his family and save for college. Juan recognized that he needed to both work as well as continue to pursue his education, so after four years at Rauner College Prep, he transferred to Peace & Education Coalition High School in Back of the Yards, where he earned his diploma.

Juan’s three older sisters graduated from Rauner College Prep and went off to college. Juan hoped to do the same. He was working to save for his own education. This senseless act has left five siblings to mourn his loss and continue to pursue their education without his moral support.

We, at Rauner College Prep, are asking for donations to help the Gonzalez family with expenses associated with his funeral. Juan was a loving brother, a dedicated son, and a loyal friend to many. He will be missed, but the light he brought to our lives with his smile will never be forgotten. Please help his family during this difficult time by donating as much as you can. We thank you in advance and send you a Wildcat hug in appreciation of your support.
