Dear friends,family & anyone else who understands and would like to help me.
Please believe me that I wish I didn't have to ask for help but my back is against the wall.
For those of you who know me,you know that I have had a bad back,a seviere limp & litte ballance ever since I broke my back in a 1977 motorcycle racing accident,but I wasn't going to let that stop me, first I went to work for my dad at the auto parts store but tragety struck my dad down and the store was sold, then I went into construction as a carpenter and worked hard til 2008 when the economy crashed (I blew a lot of minds as I was the only guy with a major disability on job sites working circles around them I had to adapt to any situation & I don't mind saying I was good at my trade) but I lost everything when the building boom ended so I came to North Carolina in 2010 where the rest of my family is and tried to regroup,I started a small handyman business and was doing pretty good but I could tell something was changing physically for me,much more pain and I couldn't climb a ladder anymore,I figured I should take some time off but that was the worst thing I could have done because my body just totally gave out and froze up,now I cant work at all,I did get on SSI which pays $800. a month and I had purchased a 1987 Ford truck to work out of but it got to the point I couldn't get in it anymore and over the last few years I havent been able to do very much at all,just doctors appointments,visiting Jenny & my grandson and going to the store,I even have to use a scooter chair if I have to walk to far, anyway my mom felt bad for me so she gave me $4000. dollars to get something smaller and easier to get in & out of, so I got a 2002 GMC Sonoma crewcab,I figured this was the perfect size to pick up Jenny and the baby while also bringing my scooter chair in the bed and it is the nicest truck Iv'e ever had but it needed a few things fixed so I sold the old Ford and put new tires on & had the intake manifold gaskets replaced,I had just enough money to do it and the timing was just right because Jenny wanted to rent a travel trailer to spend Fathers day with me & her husband Ron & Landon my awesome grandson,we started making plans over a month ago and this past Saturday the 18th I loaded up my stuff and started heading over to Jens house,I got about 20 miles and boom the engine blew.(spun a rod bearing) I had it towed to the garage where I had the work done,first I thought maybe they did something wrong but it was coincidental,they told me it will cost $2500 for a used replacement or $3500 for a rebuilt engine including labor. I can't afford this & can no longer do it myself or I would. This is my only transportation. Now, I really feel trapped and I'm super bummed out.
I just don't know what else to do but ask for help. If you havent seen me in years you would be shocked at how bad my dissability has become.
I know most of my friends are hard working blue collar workers like I was or retired, and I don't want any of you to feel obligated, but if you can help me out I will truly appreciate it and return the favor if I can.
For me,this is an emergency.
