Erica's Kidney Transplant Fund
Donation protected
After 4 years of dialysis and waiting on the UNOS list, I finally got the call on September 21, 2021 around 530 that DUKE had a kidney for me! From here everything has been a blur. I had until midnight to eat, pack, and to make it to Durham, NC which was a 3hr + hour drive. Once I arrived I began prepping for surgery and had my transplant procedure around 5am.I am very overwhelmed and thankful for the outpouring support I have received via social media, phone calls, prayers, and text.
A lot of you asked what you could do? How can you help? What do you need? Because we did not have much time to financially prepare for this amazing blessing, with humble hearts, we will accept any and all monetary contributions to help get us through the surgery and long recovery period that awaits us. I will be out of work until at least the end of December and my caregivers (Mom primary - Dad/Sister - backup) will be having to take time off to care for me. Financial assistance is going to be very limited for us.
Below are the items the funds will be used for:
- Hospital bills and co-pays
- Pharmacy costs - 6 lifelong and short term immunosuppressants in addition to 3-4 other medications
- Patient and caregiver travel, food, and lodging - we’ll be traveling to Duke weekly for several months following my discharge on 9/27
- Lost wages - myself and caregivers
- Post-transplant medical expenses
Anything you can afford to send no matter how big or small will be greatly appreciated! If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.
