Thanksgiving for the Homeless, #26

Thanks for visiting SHARE the Project's fundraising page for the 26th Annual Thanksgiving Dinner for the Homeless!

Created in 1987 by Jeanne Newman (first as "Interact", then Project SHARE and now SHARE the Project, Inc.) while she was a high school teacher at a public school in Westchester, NY. The group's goal is to involve high school students and youth in community service. In the 27 years since its inception, SHARE has helped guide students toward a clearer understanding of the social responsibilities required to ensure a brighter tomorrow for everyone.

Last year we served over 800 men, women, and children from all five boroughs of New York City and a variety of towns in Westchester County. The dinner is run by student volunteers from local high schools, who help to cook, set up, decorate, serve, and clean up. The 300+ students who volunteer each year come away from the experience with a deep understanding of what it is to serve, and for many students, SHARE inspires them to continue a lifetime of community outreach. For our 800+ guests, the dinner provides a comfortable, joyful night that guests and volunteers embrace together as the family gathering it has always been, since the dinner's very first one in 1989.
