Joseph is Volunteering Abroad!
Donation protected
Hello everyone,
My name is Joseph Abbass and I am a first year student at the University of Alberta and a resident of Beaumont, Alberta. In May 2017, I will be embarking on a unique journey to Fiji. Upon arrival, I will be meeting with other volunteers from around the world for Global Vision International's (GVI) Community Development Project. This project will take place in the Tailevu and Lomaiviti Provinces of Fiji. Our team will be involved with a variety of key initiatives such as fresh water management, education enrichment, environmental monitoring and mapping, income generation, waste management, health awareness, women’s empowerment and sustainable agriculture practice.
Any donations made will go directly towards the $2176.00 I must hand over to GVI, which then goes towards the cost of living for two weeks as well as materials we will need to conduct workshops for the Fijian people.
The remaining donations will go towards the high costs of traveling to Fiji which can cost up to $2000.
Any donations I receive doing bottle drives will also be listed on this fundraising page!
Living in Canada, we are accustomed to a fairly easy way of life with many support systems. My hope in this project is to gain a new appreciation for our society all while helping the side of Fiji's main island who is not supported by the tourism sector. I believe this will be an opportunity to provide help to those who need it, experience a unique culture and also an opporunity for self-growth.
I thank you all kindly for the support. In addition to this gofundme page, I will be looking at various other ways to fundraise within the coming months.
