This GoFundMe page is to support the family of Brian Jackson, who recently suffered a diabetic attack, resulting in the removal of both of his legs on Friday, December 7th, 2018.
In late November, 2018, Brian (now 60) had been commenting on not feeling well. After a week or two, this escalated to a trip to the hospital, where he fell into a diabetic coma for several days before doctors were able to restore him to normal. In spite of this, the circulation to his legs was faltering, and even with surgery and medication to help improve his circulation, his legs were still deteriorating, causing life-threatening complications. The decision was reached by the Jackson family that in order to save his life, it would be necessary to remove his legs.
The surgery was a success and now begins the long road to recovery.
The generous donations of this community will go towards the ongoing efforts of his family to outfit his home with necessary features and medicine that insurance will not cover.
**UPDATE: Through a great many efforts, we have been able to knock the hundreds of thousands of dollars in hospital charges down to almost nothing. What was originally 285,000 dollars is now only 1,800 in hospital fees. And now that Brian is healed from his surgery, he’s strongly motivated to get back on some feet, the only concern is that we need to pay $6,000 dollars towards the prosthetic clinic before he can begin the transition back to working on his lathe and creating again.
If a donation isn't possible at this time, a share of this fundraiser would do wonders towards enabling us to achieve our goals.
With deepest love and gratitude, The Jackson Family
