Help Anthony After Heart Surgery

Anthony (Jr.), a construction worker, his wife Cecilia and two young daughters, ages 7 and 11, have lived in a Texas suburb for 10 years enjoying the year-round warm weather. The family practices Soccer and Volleyball for the school team and plays on the swing set their dad built for them on Christmas (I know, I was there J).

In July, during a routine yearly checkup, something didn’t sound right in Jr.’s chest. They soon found out his heart was enlarged and the diagnosis was Aortic Valve Disease. This disease went undetected since birth. Had they not found it now, he would have had 1-2yrs to live. Anthony completed his surgery successfully Thursday, Sept. 15. He is in the ICU now and will be in the hospital for another two weeks. After that, he will be on medication for the rest of his life.

The medical bills have been piling up from before the open heart surgery. Insurance only covers certain expenses and sometimes only partially. With Junior out of work as his body adapts to the new heart valve and Cecilia needed to care for Junior and the kids, income will be sparse. Cecilia is always ahead of the game and has been planning her return to teaching since receiving the news, but that can’t happen until Anthony is on his feet. With two kids, a mortgage and medical bills, this strong, persevering family needs your help more than ever.
