Send Alan Cruz to Young Leaders Conference in DC

Donation protected
There is an amazing young man in my classroom named Alan Cruz Francisco who is a natural born leader. I have nominated him for the Junior National Young Leaders Conference , which is a 6-day program in Washington, D.C. this summer.  Through this program, he will have the  opportunity to spend time in and around our nation's capital, experience the power of democracy, be inspired by stories of courage, collaborate to discover solutions to some of the issues he and his peers face today, and spend a night in a museum among new friends.

Alan deserves this opportunity!
Alan is so deserving of this opportunity. He is only 10 years old and in 5th grade, but already he is trying to make a difference in his school and his community.  He is the student council vice president and has helped start a recycling program at our school. He is an anchorman for our Bonita News TV.  Alan immerses himself in extracurricular activities offered at school to help better himself so that he can better help others. He participates in Math Superbowl, Battle of the Books, and K-Kids (the elementary school version of Kiwanis). He is also in both beginning and advance band, learning to play the saxophone this year and perfecting his work on the flute. He is bilingual, fluent in both English and Spanish.

Alan is already a great leader!
Alan has amazing leadership qualities. He is kind and compassionate. He is empathetic with his peers and others around him. He has integrity and he believes in always doing what is right and fair.  He comes up with a plan and he finds a way to put it into action. Alan is a role model in the classroom and is well-respected by his peers.

Why help Alan?
Alan possesses all of the necessary qualities to be nominated for this amazing program, but what he lacks is funding.  He has had an underprivileged childhood. His father works long hours in the fields on one of the local farms, while his mother stays home with his three year old sister. He lives with them and his older sister, who is currently applying to colleges, in a small apartment in a low-rent part of town. He could really use your help to get him to this extraordinary opportunity!

What will your money go toward?
*The program itself costs $2,400, which covers lodging, two meals a day, events, entrance fees, local transportation, and more.
*The next biggest expense is getting him there. The flights, with baggage and unaccompanied minor fees, will be about $1,000
*The remaining $200 would be for the third meal each day, snacks, and maybe a souvenir or two.
***I increased the goal by $200 to account for fees taken out  by Go Fund Me. ***
$3,600
is a lot for any family to spend for a special trip like this one, but it is impossible for his family put out that kind of money when it's nearly a tenth of what their annual household income is before taxes

Please help me to make this dream come true for Alan. Anything that you can give would be greatly appreciated. THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION!
