MY STORY
My name is Javier Badillo, 19 years old and IM NOT GIVING UP! On April of 2018, while enjoying a beautiful beach day in Puerto Rico I had a very serious accident while diving. Rushed to the hospital were where it was revealed that I had suffered a traumatic spinal cord injury: a fracture of the cervical spine.
As of today I have underwent surgeries to stabilize my spinal cord and spent 2 months in the Intensive Care Unit. At the end of June I was transferred to the Rehabilitation Center in Puerto Rico where I underwent a demanding schedule of therapy to help me develop the skills needed to live as independently as possible. Health care providers have been incredibly impressed with the positive attitude and ongoing determination that has help me advance so quickly in the process of rehabilitation.
But the journey is just beggining. Seeking better health and rehabilitation opportunities on the beggining of August I was recently transferred to Kessler Institute For Rehabilitation in New Jersey where I will work with physical and occupational therapists for the next several months. Currently one day of in patient therapy is worth $5,000 not including other expenses associated with my rehabilitation process and health and living care. This is why today, respectfully, I seek your support.
It is not easy to ask for help, but any contribution would be greatly appreciated and allow me and my family to focus on my recovery and care.
