CASA: Voices for Children

Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) makes sure that the voices of children placed in the foster care system are heard and considered in the court system. The organization does this by assigning individual CASA volunteers to individual cases. These volunteers are trained to advocate for foster children in the court system. Through countless hours spent with the child, volunteers learns the child's needs and wants from the source while providing the child a consistent and positive adult presence. All proceeds from this GoFundMe fundraiser will directly support Walla Walla and Columbia counties' CASA chapter. This fundraising effort is undergone by Whitman College's chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta in conjunction with our annual event, Walla Walla's Best Dance Crew.  If you are able to make it, we would love to have you join us this year for our annual dance competition which is occurring Saturday March 7th at 7pm at Whitman's Cordiner Hall. 

Why do I support CASA?

As a member of Kappa Alpha Theta, I support CASA because I know that: 
A child who has a CASA is more likely to be adopted, half as likely to reenter foster care, and substantially less likely to spend time in long-term foster care. 
A child who has a CASA has a consistent adult presence in their life, does better in school, and is less likely to be bounced from home to home. 

As a temporary member of the Walla Walla community, I want to do as much good as I can for this community while I am here. To me the best way to do this is by raising money to give as much love, assistance, and advocacy as possible to the foster children in Walla Walla. I am for CASA because I am for the child.
