Walking With Grandpa Ernie

On Mother's Day 2014, my husband was riding his bike to his family's house. On his way there, he was a victim of a hit and run involving a vehicle and his bicycle. He was left laying in the street with a broken hip, amongst other injuries. He now needs a hip replacement in which we lack a substantial portion of the cost. He has been bedridden since the accident, unable to walk or care for himself. We are paying for someone to care for him, as both the care as well as the surgery are a necessity, until we can get ther. However, this care alone exhausts our financial means leaving the cost for the actual surgery unattainable. As a result of not having the hip replacement surgery, his leg has become infected and he has had to have numerous other surgeries in attempts to remove the deadly infection, but it just keeps returning. He is approaching 65 years in age & his immune system is not what it used to be. It's getting harder & harder for him to fight off the infection and soon, without this surgery, it will win. This, coupled with the pain he is ALWAYS in, is making it harder & harder for him to cope.The more time that passes, in his current condition, the greater the likelihood of him never being able to walk again . He is a father to 4 and grandfather to 13, one of whom he has never met due to this unfortunate and random act of irresponsibility and heartlessness. We are asking friends, family, and anyone else with a generous heart, and the means to assist, to please help our Grandpa to walk again. No amount is too small. When you have nothing, it all adds up.
