Fighting Lung Cancer

Donation protected
My  dad was recently diagnosed with  Large Cell Neuroendocrine Carcinoma Lung Cancer. This is a rare form of lung cancer and there is no known cure at this time. The doctors are treating this like they would a small cell case with Chemo and Radiation.  When I say my dad  I mean the man who stepped up  and not my biological. My dad's name  is Ken.  Ken  worked  for many years  at a  local kitchen remodeling company.  About  four years ago  he  received his general contractors license  so he  could work for himself.  Dad has been doing all  different types of jobs over the years however in all his years all of his work comes from word of mouth.  No T.V.  adds, no  radio spots and no  bill boards. He has been unable to work since late August of  2019 due to his illness.  First to go aside from  appetite  is the hair. The  recommended  treatment is  chemo and radiation .  Round 2 of chemo  starts in a few days  along with  radiation.  The doctors break down of  treatment is as follows.  Four cycles of Chemo- three days on and three  weeks off.  Five cycles of targeted radiation -  five times a week for six weeks.

In the mean time though  the house payment is due,  electricity and food.  Medicines are not cheap.  Chemo and  Radiation alone will cost roughly  $7,500.00 with his deductible.  These funds  will go to  paying bills as they come in. This money will be used to  keep the  house that he and  my mother  share.  We have a great support network but we need  funds to keep things going.  I know the world and time stop  for no one.  We  aren't  asking for the world we just  want to keep living and with your help,  however  big or small,  we can fight  to help save a life and bring hope to others who  are also effected .

A  little bit about the family.  Ken's  mother and  sister live in  Happy Camp, California.  Sarah *Ken's sister*  has already  lost two brothers due to health complications.  Ken is the sole surviving son for his mother.

Ken enjoys  his days  playing in the yard or in the house with his  four grandchildren.   Two  boys, two  girls and are a hand full  at that.  Ken and mom also have two dogs, Chloe and Shiloh.  People have  come from other states just meet Chloe and Ken.

This situation  is  EXTREMELY  URGENT. Dad is the sole income  for himself and  his wife, my  mother.  They live in a small 2 bedroom  house with 2 dogs.   Mom  keeps telling me about the house payment .  They have not had an income since  September of 2019. We need help.  They own their vehicles so no car payment but insurance  is  necessary. Ken works for himself .  Translation  he pays privately for his insurance  and has an $80.00 copay  for every visit.  Doctor  appointment for  being  seen  for  shortness of breath, $80.00.  Referral to specialist and appointment $80.00 .  Chemo  treatment  $80.00. Doctor appointment for followup $80.00. This  does not include  any  additional medications  he  needs. It's $80.00 just for the visit *walking in the door* this not include any treatment.   One set of 3 pills of a steroids he needs costs  $784.00 . Ken didn't  get these pills because we can't afford them right now.    Ken does not currently  have any dental insurance.  This is an issue because  both of his doctors have told him the radiation  will cause sores in his mouth and will eat his teeth.  Again we can't afford to have him privately seen at this time.

My mom and Ken would like to get a second opinion about his condition and treatment plan and again can't  because we don't have the money to do so and because insurance has not approved it as yet.

Ken has fixed a lot of things over the years.  He tends to not charge people for things.  Ken has built ramps for people with wheelchairs.  He's patched roofs  and not charged because the people were  struggling financially.  Well now were asking for the  community to help him.

Your donation  *big or small* will help  us fight this Cancer, save a  life and keep  my parents going.  It's difficult enough to be fighting this illness, let's  take some of the stress out of this equation.  I love my parents and this  has not been an easy journey and we just starting.

I will update  soon.  Chemo and Radiation start tomorrow.  Prayers and healing energies are welcomed.
