It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of our beloved colleague and friend, Michael Dickert. He was not just an exceptional employee but a cherished member of our Keen Lake family. Michael began camping at Keen Lake Camping & Cottage Resort many years ago and eventually became a seasonal in our community. He worked in maintenance, security and took care of our pool, internet and cable systems as well as being the most energetic errand boy ever! He quickly became a Jack of all trades and was always available for anyone and everyone that needed a hand. He was smart, ambitious and so very humorous. He was a brother to my family of seven sisters. Michael was one of the kindest, most generous and respectful people that I have ever known. Michael's cancer diagnosis and treatment led to his kidney failure and loss of an eye. Throughout his many years of suffering with serious health issues, he remained positive and active. We worried incessantly about him but he insisted on showing up everyday only to take dialysis breaks and time to walk his dog. The call finally came this past winter that he would not be returning to our park this season as he had a serious infection at the dialysis port and would need surgery. After several months in the hospital, he was released to a rehab center for the therapy he needed to become mobile again. He was so excited to get home to his bride, Linda and best friend Sam. Michael never stopped dreaming about his future and was making plans to travel. We were looking forward to his vacation with us in August. He will be sorely missed by everyone but not forgotten.
