Sat Atma, R.N. Almost There!

Greetings Sweet People! Most anyone who knows me from all regions of the globe knows that I have been chipping away at the iceberg of nursing school for the past four years. The good news is that I have a few more weeks in this semester and one more semester to go until I graduate and achieve the competency of R.N. YAHOO!!

Throughout my nursing school tenure, I have received academic scholarships based on merit and financial need. I have also received federal financial aide and through utilizing both of these avenues have been able to fund my education.

Scene change: This year, however, was a wild card curve ball. I have already one B.S. degree (and a Master of Social Work degree!) and because of this, federal funding available to me at the B.S. level has been exhausted.

Knowing of this situation early on, I put alternative funding resources into place that, unfortunately fell through at the last moment. The way educational financial aide criteria works is that if I don’t qualify for federal funding I am subsequently disqualified for scholarships through the financial aide office.

Many students this semester automatically received educational funds through special allowances for COVID-19. Due to my situation, I did not qualify. I am paying for school out of my pocket this semester and next. As student nurses, we are advised not to work while in school due the rigorous nature of the course load, however, any hour that I am not in school I have been working to cover school costs.

Would you like to contribute to my scholastic success?

Contributions of all shapes and sizes are welcome with open arms and grateful heart. The return on your investment will be:

·      The satisfaction knowing you helped a nursing student be successful

·      Investing in a future where you may need a well-qualified nurse to aide in your health care

·      Making the world a better place by having one more caring person in the healthcare industry that has serious intentions of improving the efficacy of the system!

Above all, I pray you are well in these unprecedented times that carry unique and individual challenges for each of us. May we rise, with stronger hearts, minds and bodies than ever before to do what we came to do. God Bless Us All! <3

P.S. I am enrolled at UNM Taos School of Nursing! Thank you!
