DePaz Family

3 years ago, our father was diagnosed with stage 4 Mantle Cell Lymphoma,  type of cancer. As a drastic but necessary step to fight this disease,  he underwent a stem cell transplant to rebuild his immune system with cells given to him by my brother, Pablo at Georgetown Hospital in Washington D.C.  The date of the operation was Oct. 8 2019, my brother’s birthday. Since then, he has been in and out of the hospital, twice being admitted to the Intensive Care Unit.  This past May he was back in the ICU in his most critical condition yet. But dad has always been a fighter and with the power of prayer and family support he has slowly made progress towards leaving the ICU and the hospital. As he continues his recovery we have decided as a family that the best option for our parents is to move to L.A.  as soon as possible so that they can be closer to their 5 grandkids, help our mother with his needs, and continue treatment here.


An unexpected move like this is going to cost our family some financial hardships as cross country flights, medical and moving expenses all come at once.  As many of you know, our father was a minister for most of his life in the United States and although he always provided for his family, just like many other 1st generation immigrants he was not able to save much money for emergencies like this. This is where the community he loved and served can give a bit of this love back.  He has always taught us to love and serve others and to not be shy or embarrassed to ask for help when you need it. Our family needs some help now and we ask that you  share this post and help our family through this very difficult time.
