Women Helping Women

Hello! My name is Debra Batterson, and I am currently raising funds for our women's sober living home. My sisters and I have poured our life savings into this dream of supporting women in need. Our mission is to support women on their recovery journey and help them transition back into society as thriving, healed, and whole individuals.

Since its launch in May, we have successfully created a beautiful and peaceful home for these women. However, unforeseen expenses have occurred, such as higher-than-expected furnishing and remodeling costs, along with unexpected maintenance issues like a broken dishwasher, shower, and a leaky sprinkler system. Additionally, I recently experienced a layoff, which has added to our financial challenges.

We believe in empowering these women to become self-sufficient by encouraging them to find employment and contribute towards the mortgage through a membership fee. However, the time between finding a job and receiving their first paycheck often leaves them in need of immediate support for necessities like food, clothing, and transportation. And of course, those funds come directly out of our pockets.

We understand the importance of responsibly assisting these women without enabling them, and we are committed to providing a supportive environment for their recovery.

We kindly ask for your help in supporting our cause and ensuring the continuity of our services. Any contribution would greatly assist us in providing the necessary resources and support to these women in need.

The amount we are requesting is enough to handle unmet expenses for the next month. We currently have three women in residence and have seven more beds to fill. I believe we can achieve this within 90 days or so. Once our home is filled it will be fully self-supporting.
