J.Pace Prepares for JAPAN

Donation protected
My name is Jennifer and I am 31 years old. I have my A.A and BA in Fine art photography. I am currently only able to do photography as a side hustle. I spend most of my time working between 2-3 restaurants at a time. Working in restaurants is what I did while in school and I love food, people and the bustling environment and I have a past in baking. As much as I love working them, after 6 years I am at the point where I would like 1 job. Hopefully, one that would contribute more time, opportunities, and flexibility for my photography.

I have spent a great deal of time thinking about this and it will be a big leap and change but I want to become a TEFL teacher. I want to go and teach English in Japan for a short time, then, I would like to end up in Latin America as I may long term settle somewhere in those areas. Or after about 5 years of teaching, traveling, and exploring I will return to the states.

I have studied Japanese Art History, East Asia studies ( Japanese history) and I've taken Japanese twice as a language. I have wanted to go to Japan more than half my life since I was 13 and before photography, my goal was to move to Japan to be a Mangaka (Japanese comic book artist). So not only would this be a major change it is a L I F E goal.

I am hoping to apply this time as a STUDENT to go and study the Japanese language. The language school I want to attend has an English counterpart with the chance to teach. As well as being physically in japan I would be able to apply for more teaching jobs once I LIVE there. I am also hoping that having a TEFL (Teach English as Foreign Language) certification will help with the process and get me approved.

The donation goes towards:
-Japanese Language school IN JAPAN as well as HOUSING (5000$) (SPRING quarter starts April 20th)
https://gogonihon.com/en/language-schools/kofu/unitas/

*Has English language school counterpart for a chance to teach, as well as can apply for other teaching jobs as more options are open when you LIVE there.

I am in the process of taking my TEFL (Teach English as a Foreign Language) testing in Oct. (400$)

I don't want to say I regret going to school for it. As there is also NO federal funding for me to go to school for anything again. I have a $54,000 student loan with a 300$ monthly payment plan... that I'm trying to lower monthly payment. I live alone and cover all my basic by working 3-4 jobs. I just wish I had figured out this path then and gone to school for being a TEFL teacher. I wouldn't have such large student loan debt and I could learn what I know about photography without going to school. But HEY, here we are. So this is what I have to do, to be present and achieve this. I do have a future goal of getting my masters in fine art (not in America) I would like to at least get an A.A in business (again not in America) and I hope to own a bar because I love the restaurant and hospitality industry. Things I hope to do after I'm 35. After I have become a TEFL teacher and taught in Japan and Spain or Latin America as the jobs pay decent and they provide subsides housing so I should be able to save money. Saving money is a huge goal while teaching, still plan on shooting photos in my spare time and creating art. I'm really trying to think in terms of the next 5-10 years of my life. I hope to have a lot of these things achieved but also okay if they take longer.

I would Apply for school in the Fall deadlines (like Sept/Nov) with results released over the next few months till April when then send out their choices to go live and work in Japan. So the remaining 1000$ would go towards the cost of my ticket and shipping my things to Japan in April. Any other remaining funds I will pay out my pocket. (getting a 3rd job just for this)

ANYONE that makes a 10$ or more donation I will send you a postcard once I get to JAPAN.
ANYONE that makes a 50$ or more donation I will send you a postcard and PHOTO I take in JAPAN
ANYONE that makes a 100$ or more donation I will send you a postcard, PHOTO (taken in Japan) and random Japanese related gift from JAPAN.
