Joy & Reign Beaux's Excellent Adventures

Y'all... this is important. My friend, Joy, has stage 4 cancer and no more options. She is a single mom with an 11-year old daughter. Please help them be able to make memories together. They have limited time.

Twenty years ago, when my daughter was a baby, I met Joy at a breastfeeding support group. She was an exhausted single mom who was grateful to let me hold her infant son, Neven, for a few minutes so she could use the restroom. Less than a month later, that little precious bundle of boy got sick causing an undetected hole in his heart to burst. He died unexpectedly. The loss of that little soul was devastating and affected every community around me. It turned out that Joy and I had shared the same midwife, and the midwife called me to help this mom because she knew Joy and I shared a spiritual path and I could connect her with others for support. 

It was a profound experience to help bring together a community to recognize and honor Neven's life. I spent a lot of time with Joy to plan his service and to support her through this tremendous period of grief. It forever changed me and has always helped me remember to cherish and love those around you because you never know when the unexpected can happen. 

The wheel of life kept turning. Joy lost another baby boy during a challenging pregnancy, which was another period of profound loss. But eleven years ago, Joy was blessed with a beautiful daughter, Reign Beaux. 



In March 2015 Joy was diagnosed with breast cancer. Reign Beaux was 5 at the time. This has been a very difficult battle for Joy. She has taken brutal amounts of harsh medications, been through multiple surgeries, and dealt with radiation treatments... which has only slowed the progression. 

Unfortunately, this battle has worn Joy down. The cancer has spread and there are no more treatment options available. The only thing she has left is precious little time, which she obviously wants to spend with her daughter. 

This is a long story to get to the main point. Please help Joy and Reign Beaux spend whatever time Joy has left making the best memories possible.  When I asked Joy what I could do to help, she had asked for some cheap body cameras so they could record their adventures together. Y'all... this isn't sufficient. These moments are going to document their final adventures together. They need quality GoPro cameras so they can do fun and wild things together. They need the best quality footage possible because these are precious forever memories. 

Please help me. They have a bucket list of things they would like to do together. Donations will go towards helping them make memories. Someone has already graciously gifted them hot air balloon rides. They also want to zipline, take a Hoover Dam helicopter tour, and skydive. Reign Beaux wants cosplay costumes. Joy wants to love on an elephant and/ or a sloth. 

I realize that this is a hard time of year. And I realize that we are in the middle of a pandemic. I know it is asking a lot to ask for any donations. But Joy and Reign Beaux don't have much time. If you can give $5, every $5 will help make and preserve a memory. The sooner we can receive funds, the sooner we can get these cameras and they can start recording their adventures. 

Joy has had a very difficult life. She has been through so much more than most people I know. She deserves to have her final months with her daughter to be perfect memories. Please contribute if you can. If you can't please share.
