Joy Maltese Needs an MRI

Hello Everyone, many of you have met Joy and those of you who have, know what a happy and lively dog she is. Unfortunately, for the past couple months Joy has been struggling with ataxia/seizure like episodes. The first time was very scary as it was so unexpected. She stumbled off the bed and had lost her balance and coordination for about half an hour . As time went by, her episodes started getting longer and worse as she would become dizzy and start to vomit, drool and sometimes go into full seizures. Her last episode was the worst and longest one yet. She was in this state all day, with no control over her body. Luckily, the ER vet was able to monitor her overnight and help her come to. The vet neurologist suspects that she has a brain tumor but we will need an MRI scan to know for sure. As you can imagine, MRIs are very expensive for dogs ($3000+) and we have already spent over $1k in ER bills, vet visits and consults, and medications. Possible treatments for a brain tumor are steroid medications or radiation which will also become very costly. We are currently leaning towards steroids but this will be no help to her and will only cause side effects (such as loss of energy, development of infections, etc.) if she does not actually have brain cancer. Only an MRI will give us a true diagnosis.

We would be devastated if anything were to happen to our sweet girl before knowing that we did everything we could to help her. Joy also  has many friends and family including her doggo brother Ollie and even a 2 month old human brother who would miss her so much.
