Journey to Kyle's new heart ❤

Kyle Knight suffered a massive heart attack on Saturday May 13th. He was transported to Einter Haven Hospital where he received a stent to stop the heart attack. Everything went great during the first procedure. We were told that he was going to have to have open heart surgery to do bypass graphs to fix remaining arteries that are blocked as well. They would schedule that at a later date approx 30 days after stent placement.
On Sunday May 14th Kyle started having some discomfort in his chest, shortness of breath, and an elevated heart rate. After being like this the entire day at 1030pm they said they were going to take him back to the cath lab and put in a balloon pump to help his heart rest and help with blood flow to to vital organs. Around 330am the doctor at winter haven came out to say the stent had clotted off and the heart was further damaged. He would have to be transferred to Tampa General where there is more specialized care and can do heart transplant if needed. They wanted to try and get him stabilized as quickly as possible and start the transfer process to Tampa.
Monday May 15th the process started for the transfer and after many many hours a bed finally opened up and @1145pm he was airlifted to TGH.
Tuesday May 16th early morning hours he arrived and they immediately started the rigorous tests and testing the viability of Kyle's heart. They were evaluating what the best option to fix his heart would be.
After all the testing it was found that Kyle's heart was not strong enough to sustain life and he would need a heart transplant. To be placed on the transplant list you have to meet a certain criteria. So they decided to place a VAD (ventricular assist device) as a bridge to transplant. This device is a pump that takes over the work of the left ventricle. The pump sends oxygen rich blood from the left ventricle to the aorta which sends the blood to the rest of the body. Without this device Kyle would not be alive today. His heart is not strong enough on its own to supply the body's need for blood. The pump must always be hooked up to power.
With this device Kyle is no longer able to weld due to the electrical current. Kyle is a welder by trade and has been for many years. If he does any welding it can cause the machine to malfunction and death. That being said Kyle does not have any income coming in and the medical bills are piling up. He will be out of any kind of work during the healing process. The expenses will continue he will be having to travel back weekly to Tampa General for clinic visits, supplies for daily wound dressing changes, equipment maintenance, numerous medications and more testing to evaluate him for a heart transplant.
With so many people asking what they can do for Kyle I decide to make this account. Times are going to be difficult and any donation would be greatly appreciated. There has also been and account opened up for Kyle at Wauchula State Bank in his name as well for donations.
The out pouring of love and prayers have been such a blessing to our family. His parents Pam Sellers, Larry and Connie Knight, Brother Ken Knight and myself would like to thank everyone!
