Journey for Refugee Support in Poland

On Sunday July 3rd Fr. Matthew Cashmore (our parish priest) will be leaving St. Anselm as he drives with a car load of support items for a refugee camp in northern Poland which supports mothers and children fleeing the war in Ukraine.

He will be filling the car with specialist items to help these desperate families. He will be returning with a refugee family who will be living with him and his family in the vicarage in Hayes.

By driving Fr. Matthew is able to take out much needed aid, but will also be able to return via Düsseldorf where many refugees were able to store family items they managed to get out of Ukraine. He'll be bringing back items not just for the family staying with him but for other families in West London.

The total cost of the trip is over £1000. This is made up of fuel, two nights at an F1 hotel (cheapest available) and the channel tunnel crossings. Fr. Matthew will be meeting the cost of food etc. himself.

St. Anselm Church (the registered charity your donations will go to) has been a long-time supporter of refugees in Hayes as part of the West London Refugee Support Network - we support several hundred refugees each year through our partnership with the overflow hotels for refugees in our Parish, our foodbank and with practical support such as clothing etc.

Fr. Matthew Cashmore has been supporting refugees - in particular those in Calais - for several years. His efforts in this area were recorded in the BBC Documentary 'A Vicars Life'.
