Help Josue pay for his university tuition

Hi, my name is Josue. I'm raising funds for my first year of university tuition.

I was born and raised in Matimba, a small village in the eastern part of Rwanda. My parents are refugees from Congo, and I am one of their nine children. Due to our family's financial situation and our remote location, I didn't have access to good schools while growing up, and I never left my village until 2019.

After performing exceptionally well in my O-level exams (GCSEs) in 2018 and ranking top in my school, I was admitted to a prestigious school in Kigali for my A-level education. However, the tuition fees for one term were twice the amount my father earned as an elementary school teacher. Deep down, as excited as I was, I knew it would impose an impossible financial burden on my family, making it impossible for me to attend. Luckily, three days before the registration date, my father received a call from the Rwanda Ministry of ICT informing us that I had been selected for a government scholarship to study Software Engineering at Rwanda Coding.

While studying at Rwanda Coding Academy in 2019, I had the opportunity to meet an alumna of Gordonstoun School. Through this connection, I became interested in attending the school myself and decided to apply for admission and a scholarship in August of the same year. Fortunately, I was selected as one of only three students from my country to attend Gordonstoun for A-level education. I was awarded a 100% scholarship from the Prince Phillip Gordonstoun and Neumayer Foundation.

I chose to study computer science, mathematics, and physics for my A-levels because of how well these subjects complement each other. I believe this combination would prepare me well for a career in technology.

At first, settling into a new school and country during the pandemic was challenging. Despite this, I have enjoyed every second of my time at Gordonstoun, making the most of the school's broad curriculum. In Autumn 2021, I was made a Prefect, and in May, I was awarded the Knatchbull Award in recognition of exceptional service. Attending Gordonstoun exposed me to unique experiences. I learned sailing, and survival skills, and took on multiple roles of responsibility.

On the 18th of August, I received my acceptance letter from Queen's University Belfast, a Russell Group university, and one of the top 25 in the UK. Like many accepted into their dream schools, I was thrilled and looking forward to my university journey. I was also pleased to receive a 15% merit scholarship.

However, as an international student, my tuition fees, are £22,000 per year, not including the living costs. I need to prove that I have sufficient funds to maintain my place at the university.

As I relied on a full scholarship to fund my studies at university, I am reaching out to the broader community for support. I seek donations to help support me through university.

No amount is too small, and every donation brings me one step closer to achieving my academic goals. Your sponsorship will not only support my education but also contribute to the broader impact I aspire to make in my community and beyond.

I know this will not be possible for everyone but your support, whether through donations or simply by sharing my campaign with your network, means the world to me.

I have had unique experiences at Gordonstoun, but unfortunately, it isn't easy to achieve my dreams without help to reach the next step.

Thank you!
