Joshua's Leukemia Battle

My stepson, Joshua Karty, a husband and father of 3, was diagnosed with Aggressive Chronic Myeloid Leukemia in April. He went to an oncologist/hematologist and they began immediate treatment. His spleen was enlarged to 3 times the normal size, he has lost 45 pounds and was extremely anemic. The doctor started him on a handful of different medications to shrink his spleen and kill off cancer cells. About 2 weeks after starting treatment, he got an unrelated infection which was so horrible, he had to spend a week in the hospital.

Of course, medical bills are going to be beyond anything they can afford, as he will be dealing with this for the rest of his life.  They also want to keep the stem cells from the baby's umbilical cord, which is an expensive process, to hopefully help with treating his leukemia.

Joshua grew up in San Diego, California, where most of his family still lives. In 2008, he moved to Idaho where he helped start Mountain Springs Church, which is now thriving in their community of Bonners Ferry, Idaho.  There he met his wife Lynnea and they are raising their family there. He started his own company called Bulletproof Trucking, that handles work site transportation, mostly in the oil field. 

Joshua has been a giver his whole life and this time he and his family need some help. The money will be used for traditional treatment like chemotherapy as well detoxes and more natural treatments. Any money that is not used for Joshua's care will be paid forward to help charitable causes.
