Unexpected Death - Please help

Everyone loves a good story, unfortunately this one is rather tragic. This is a story of a little boy who went through a very traumatic childhood, one of a broken home and chaos. Through it all he choose to remain positive and to live a life of forgiveness. Recently his mother was diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer, she was in denial and refused to believe she was sick and did not pursue treatment. Her cancer started to spread and take over her body. One day while in her home she fell and could not get back up, her landlord found her and drove her to the hospital. Once there her son was finally called. He came to see her, a hospice volunteer had come by and braided her hair, one french braid on each side of her head. Her petite body with her braids made her look like a young girl again. Its interesting how we revert back to childhood in our old age. She was 71 now and needed help. Her cancer had metastasized so much there was no longer a treatment. One by one people that had been hanging onto hurt or pain of their own came to forgive. She was aware enough to know but the tubes prevented her from talking with anything more than her eyes. Her eyes told a story of betrayal, then fear, then forgiveness, then acceptance to at last joy, joy that at the end she had her loved ones by her side. Because of her denial, there was no preparations done and her grieving son now had to figure out how to pay for her funeral and how to handle moving her earthly belongings out. The doctors had told us it could be a matter of hours, those hours turned into days. Now how was he going to pay for his bills on top of everything else. He tried to go back to work right away but would break down without warning, head in a daze. How do people do this? He never thought for one minute while she was in her last days not to be there for her, but his job was based on commission, there was no guarantees of a paycheck and if his head was not in the right place there was no money. He had just started a new business and usually would be in the position to handle this but with me just losing my position as well and him not having any time to plan. I now ask for a strangers help  and generosity as we do not know what else to do.
Please help us in our time of need. Help us have the ability to grieve properly, to give my fiance even just a few days off of work to regroup. To give his mother a proper funeral and to help us financially and emotionally get through this very challenging time.
