Josh YWAM DTS

When I was a kid, I always believed I would grow up to be a missionary like my parents. It just seemed like that was what I was supposed to do. As I got older, I discovered I had a passion for making videos and wanted to become a film maker. When I was 19 years old, I went to a World Mandate. It was there that I felt God telling me that I was going to do both, mission work and creating videos. I didn't know how or when, but I knew this was going to happen.

For years, I’d have my day job and then do mission work and make videos on the side. This is what I thought God must have meant. I would have an office job and with my free time I would go on mission trips and make videos for my church. This was the only way I could see what God had told me actually happening.

Then one night after a church service that stirred up my heart, I felt God had created me to do more then this. God meant for me to have more than just a day job to pay the bills and more than to just make the occasional video here and there.

I felt like there was more I was meant to do and I ended up sharing this feeling with a friend. She encouraged me by saying that we don't know the impact our lives can have on others and that God had me exactly where I was for a reason. The next day I got fired. I texted my friend and said "I got fired this afternoon. So apparently God has decided that I have done all that I can do here and that it’s time for me to look for what he has in store for me next. It's kinda weird, but it's been really freeing."

I thought about looking at some mission trips and seeing what else was out there. Then I heard about YWAM Perths Media, Art & Photography DTS and it sounded exactly like what I had been looking for; a program that combined media and missions. Of course I wasn't sure about it, so I looked at other places just to see if maybe there was a better direction for me to go. When I did, Australia and Perth started showing up everywhere from random videos and commercials to even seeing it on a UFC Poster. Everywhere I looked, I was seeing what felt like signs from God that Perth, Australia is where I’m being called.

This is what I feel like God is calling me to do. DTS starts April 8th and, in order to go, I would need to raise $10,000 plus travel expenses. Since my circumstances don’t allow me to cover those expenses, I am having faith in God that if he wants me to go in April he will provide a way.
