Josh's Story

My nephew, Josh, at the young age of 23, began his fight with a rare form of cancer known as Chordoma of the cervical spine. A large tumor had wrapped around vertebrae C2-C6 requiring a team of doctors at a specialty hospital to perform a long and tedious 12 hour surgery. Not just once but twice. Josh's first surgery was the removal of the tumor and the affected vertebrae with the addition of a cadaver bone to replace the vertebrae. His second surgery was the placement of a titanium cage around the cadaver bone. Josh spent several months in recovery at the hospital and many more months at home recovering with 24/7 care from family.  Although Josh has limited mobility in his neck, he has had a fairly successful recovery and after 6 years of MRI's taken every three months, he is considered in remission.

Three years after Josh's recovery, he decided to partner with his brother Jessie and work along side him in their business, Affordable Lawn Care.  Jessie and Josh aren't only brothers, they are friends. And hard workers too! Recently, on what seemed a routine day, Josh, in the blink of an eye, had an accident involving the lawn mower. That accident cut off two fingers and left a third one hanging. With Jessie by his side, he was rushed to the hospital. After visiting with the surgeon, Josh learned that surgery would be needed and none of the three fingers could be saved. Josh underwent surgery on his hand and will not be able to work for four months.

Josh was under the umbrella of his parent's insurance until he was 26 years old, covering about three years of his cancer medical bills. Since then, he has been without any medical insurance. With quarterly MRI's, physical therapy, other medical concerns, and now this accident where he lost his fingers, Josh's medical bills have sky-rocketed.

Josh and his family need our help. This Go Fund Me page has been set up to help Josh with his medical bills and to help fund his income for the next four months that he is unable to work. Josh is an amazing guy. I hope you'll consider helping him and his family. Let's bless their socks off!
