Josh Shockley Dialysis/Kidney Transplant Fund
Josh Shockley has been fighting kidney disease and failure for several years and has reached a point where dialysis is now required on a daily basis. The struggles of life can be difficult enough even for those who enjoy perfect health. Josh has been on a donor recipient list for more than two years and the expenses of continued daily treatment in addition to upcoming transplant and recovery costs can be overwhelming.
Medical costs alone are estimated to be in excess of $250,000. He does have medical insurance that will cover a portion of the expense but out of pocket is expected to be between $75,000 - $100,000 for living out of town after the transplant, non-covered medicine, co-pay for surgery and hospital stay and the ongoing cost of anti-rejection medications.
Many have asked what they could do to help Josh other than by donating a kidney. This Go Fund Me campaign is being set up as a way for those who want to help, but don’t know what to do. Any amount you are willing to give would help ease the financial burden that only adds stress to the difficulties of the necessary daily medical treatments and upcoming surgery he and his family face.
Josh is 40 years old and he and his wife Amy have three children, Leilani age 16, Logan age 9 and Lincoln age 4. Josh grew up in San Angelo and was an accomplished athlete in football, baseball and power lifting and was a three-year letterman for the San Angelo Central High Bobcat football team from 1993-1995.
Josh continues to go to work on a daily basis at his insurance agency in San Angelo to help support his family while Amy is a nurse at Angelo Community Hospital. When the call comes that a donor match is available, either in Dallas or San Antonio, they will have to completely rearrange their lives as well as those of the kids.
Josh has a long way to go. He has not asked for any help but we know it would be a blessing. This campaign is being set up by his brothers, sisters, parents and friends who want to help ease his burden. Any generosity would be most appreciated by him and his family.
