A Trooper!!!

Anyone who knows Josh, knows that he's a trooper.  A young man who has had to maneuver through life like he was in a boxing match. He has suffered the sudden loss of his father, his God-brother and 3 best friends, all within a few years apart but he never gave up. He has always kept his head lifted up and stayed focus. He is committed to carrying on the torch and living out the dream he shared with his best friends, who were like brothers to him since the age of 6. The dream was to "make it" and give back to the community.

Josh has been an honor roll student through most of his school years. As a senior in high school, he aspires to play college football for a PAC-12 school, with the ultimate goal of being drafted to the NFL.  Although, he’s had some struggles with all of the tragedies, he continues to fight and hasn't let anything bring him down; in fact, it has pushed him to work even harder to get to where he is and to earn the 8 college scholarships he currently has on the table.

Josh is a good young man, who's never been in trouble,  he has been raised to believe and have faith in God. Then, as if he hadn't been through enough, he got injured doing the thing that he absolutely loves doing… playing football! After playing only 3 pre-season high school games, he’s now suffering from a torn ACL & meniscus and he needs surgery. His spirit was crushed! His senior year was done and the college offers are questionable.

As a mother I was at a loss… I’ve watched my son work so hard for the past 12 years and I just felt helpless… my son dreams could be over!!!  By recommendation we came across “The Man”… Dr. Ting, an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in sports medicine. Dr. Ting treats many local college and professional athletes, including Roger Craig & Yao Ming. He assured Josh that he was not done and in fact, the type of surgery he does is actually the way the colleges want to see. The surgery would be done using the Josh's own ligaments instead of those from a cadaver. That made Josh light up with hope!

However,  we found out that Dr. Ting only accepts PPO health insurance which has a very costly premium and deductible. We were then offered a Plan B; the out of pocket cost would be $13,000 to cover everything pre-op, surgery and post-op.

As a single mother who doesn't have nor can afford PPO health insurance, I'm asking for your help with the medical costs so that Josh can have his surgery and get back on track to live out his dream. It takes a village... please pass this along to family and friends that can support Josh.  We are trying to reach our goal by Nov. 30, 2017.
