Josh & Mary Jo Johnson Benefit

In June of 2017, after months of consistent coughing and not feeling well, Josh Johnson was diagnosed with an infection in his right lung.  He was started on strong IV antibiotics.   However, a week later, a CT scan showed this infection/mass was continuing to grow.  He was then referred to Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN and on July 11, 2017 Josh was diagnosed with Diffuse Large B Cell Lymphoma in his right lung.

After further testing and biopsies, the doctors found that the infection was inside the Lymphoma tumor. A chest tube was placed to drain the infection and IV antibiotics continued to get the infection under control.  Josh then received his first cycle of R-CHOP chemo in August. 

This cancer has proved to be very stubborn and Josh is currently undergoing his 3rd type of chemotherapy.   During the last number of months, in spite of being on antibiotics, the infection continued to rear it's ugly head and has landed Josh in the hospital multiple times and usually for a week or two each time.

Throughout his treatment, Josh, who works at Gold-Eagle Coop in Wesley, Iowa, has had to significantly decrease his hours at work and can only work intermittently as treatment allows.  

MaryJo, who works at Athletico Physical Therapy in Garner, Iowa,  has also had to decrease her hours at work to accompany Josh to appointments and hospital stays at Mayo Clinic.   

Josh and Mary Jo are the parents of two beautiful daughters: Olivia (5) and Naomi (2).

As you can imagine, this has put a great financial strain on Josh and Mary Jo.  Their loss of income and the additional load of medical expenses, hospital stays and travel expenses have created a great need for their friends and family to rally around them and help them through this difficult time.
