Jose's Medical Fund

Donation protected
On New Year's Day, our dad, Jose Mundo, had an extremely serious cycling accident and was severely injured. He broke his thoracic spine, has several facial fractures and broke several ribs. He was airlifted to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital and was placed in ICU. Two days ago, he had surgery on his spine, where a rod and screws were implanted. The surgery went well, but because he was lying on his stomach during the surgery, a lot of blood pooled in his face and he is now waiting to have his face operated on. We are anticipating that surgery will take place early next week. He will have a cage around his mouth and be on a liquid diet for six weeks in order to keep the bones in place. He will be doing intense rehab for the next year in order to regain mobility. We are incredibly thankful that he is alive and will walk again, but he is currently in a lot of pain and he is looking at a long road to recovery.

Jose’s immediate needs are funds to help him receive all of the medical treatments he will need to recover. He will need money for physical therapy, acupuncture, massage, medications, supplements, doctors’ visits and  transportation. Though Jose has Medicare it will only cover a portion of his medical bills.

He also needs funds to set up his home so it can adequately support him. He and his wife, Jenia, currently live way off the grid. He will need basic things like a large propane tank for heat, stove, fridge and hot water heater and an updated septic tank. His sleeping area and home will also need railings installed because he will not be mobile for awhile. We want to get him a Vitamix blender to help with food preparation for his liquid diet.

We estimate that he will need between $20,000 and $25,000 to cover his recovery and medical needs.  We anticipate he will need the funds in the next 30 days.

We are so grateful for any amount of support. For those of you who know Jose, he is an incredibly humble and giving person and would never ask for this on his own. We love him so much and just want to help alleviate some of his suffering.

Love,

Nadine & Rena
