Jose R's Surgeries and Medication

This is my Work Brother and friend José Pepo Rexach. He’s a Licensed Psychology Technician that has dedicated his life  to helping Veterans with mental health diagnoses get well. He always has a kind word for you, will always offer you a prayer, encouragement and even scriptures. He rarely takes days off from work and is always dedicated to the task at hand. He truly cares for everyone and wishes the best for each that he encounters.

José was born with Type 1 Diabetes. Because of this, he struggles with kidney damage and inflammation in his heart. The cardiologist told him months ago that he would likely need a pacemaker, but he is unable to afford this at this time ($10,000+) Today he learned that he needs emergency surgery to have cataracts removed from both of his eyes, starting Thursday, November 12th. He lives alone and is his only support, as his family resides in Puerto Rico (his home). He also learned today that he has glaucoma. The doctor will start with surgery on one eye this week and will complete the other eye in another three weeks. Because this is the most pressing issue, this is what we are asking for help with at this time. Each surgery will total at least $1400 each, plus the cost of expensive medication for his eyes. This is what is covered after insurance. He has no other source of income or help, financially, from any other source and also helps to contribute towards his daughters needs and well-being.

We’re just asking for everyone to come together and help this kind soul. This man, who gives so much of himself to the world, every day, is only asking for prayers. We, his friends and family, are asking for help so that he can get the treatment that he needs and be able to continue to maintain while living on his own.
