Jose Luis Hernandez Transplant

Donation protected
Where to begin, José Luis is a humble hard-working man always on the move. Whether working on a project at home, at work driving the front loader or volunteering at the church. He is a devout Christian, rich in faith, a devoted husband and a generous steadfast friend.

A few weeks ago, he started feeling quite sluggish. Finally, at the urging of his wife, Alicia, he agreed to see his primary care physician. The lab work indicated that his liver was irritated and inflamed. The doctor ordered José Luis to take two weeks off from work and simply rest. For a Guy like José Luis the idea of sitting around idle is almost untenable. Anybody who knows him would tell you that his life revolves around working to provide for his family.

Begrudgingly he accepts the time off, sadly less than a week into the rest period his condition deteriorates. Alicia grew concerned and insisted that it was time to visit the emergency room. He was admitted, and the physicians quickly determined that his condition was serious. Within a couple days they concluded that the liver was failing, and José Luis needed to be transferred to Tampa General immediately for a liver transplant evaluation. The physicians at Tampa General worked expeditiously and concluded that in fact José Luis had acute liver failure and would require a liver transplant. Upon closer examination they discovered that his MELD score was 36 which basically puts him at a critical need for a transplant. While José Luis does have health insurance to cover most of the medical costs, he must meet both the medical and prescription drugs deductibles first. In addition, he will be unable to work for nearly one year after the transplant surgery. So, funds will be very limited even for basic living expenses. The transplant coordinator has indicated that the surgery will likely take place within days due to its critical nature. José Luis and his wife could really use our help. Please donate to help Jose Luis & Alicia in their time of need, no donation is too small. This go fund me account has been set up on behalf of Alicia and her husband José Luis Hernández.

Thank you and May God bless you.
