Jorge “George” Cruz

‌On November 21, the world lost Jorge “George” Cruz - a fun loving, uplifting, caring man. Those that knew him were touched by his selflessness, compassion, and generosity. He gave wholeheartedly to everyone and asked for nothing in return. It was hard not to laugh and smile when you were in his presence. George spent his time gardening and loved tending to his plants just like his beloved mother Juanita (R.I.P).  He is survived by his wife Loli and 13 brothers and sisters.

Like so many people in Houston, George and Loli Cruz were hit hard by Hurricane Harvey back in August. While their furniture and belongings sat in storage, he worked tirelessly repairing water damaged walls and floors himself. On Monday evening while carrying  renovation debris and garbage to the street he was tragically hit by a car from a person experiencing a medical emergency. With a broken pelvis and internal bleeding,  doctors were unable to save George via surgery, leaving Loli and our family absolutely heartbroken.

With George’s tragic and unexpected death, Loli is now left with thousands of dollars in funeral expenses and a home still in desperate need of repair. Although his presence cannot be replaced, we are raising money to assist Loli not only with funeral expenses, but also with completing the restoration projects George started himself.
