Jordynn's Journey-Living with a Spinal cord injury
Donation protected
My 16 year old daughter was hit by a car on March 8, 2021 in Clayton County, Georgia while walking on the sidewalk with her friend. The officer stated that they were jaywalking and so the lady who hit her didn't receive a citation or any drug or alcohol tests were done. She has a Quad 4-5 spinal cord injury. With a spinal cord injury, you have to wait for your brain to talk to the rest of your body. Their is no timeline on when she will regain movement in her body. She is now in a wheelchair and requires a lot of accommodations before she can come home. We have been staying at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta since March 19, 2021. On March 8, she had no movement below her injury but now she enough movement where she can hand drive her wheelchair and is learning how to feed herself again. We are scheduled to come home in June. In order for her to come home we need several ADA accommodations at our house and a wheelchair van to get her to appointments and whenever else we need to go. We are asking for family, friends and the community to make a donation towards her return home and back to her new life. I'm a single parent who has been separated from family to be by my daughters side as she recovers.
