MEDLIFE is a student run organization founded on the principle of providing Medicine, Education and Development to Low Income Families Everywhere.
From May 2nd-10th, I will be embarking on a medical service trip to Lima, Peru. I will be working alongside medical professionals, Florida State University students and MEDLIFE workers to serve underprivileged populations. We will be staffing a mobile clinic that will provide primary care for individuals who would otherwise lack any access to basic healthcare. However, our service goes beyond typical medical mission trips. We aim to resolve the root of the problem by promoting preventive health, teaching Lima residents how to maintain their health instead of merely treating disease. Additionally, patient care doesn’t stop at the end of the week. MEDLIFE’s program provides a year of follow-up care that includes financial, emotional and educational support for patients and their families.
